An AI trading journal is a trade journal that reads your own trades and tells you, in plain English, what is costing you money. Instead of building filters and charts yourself, you get feedback such as “you lose most after two losses in a row” or “your oversized trades are your worst trades.”
The five AI journals below all do that, but they point the AI at different things. Some analyze only your trade data. Others also look at your behavior, and one is built around the emotions you log on every trade. We compared them on what the AI actually does, whether it sees your psychology, price, and whether you can use it on your phone. Prices and features were checked on each vendor’s site in October 2026.
Disclosure: Plancana is our app. We list where competitors are stronger, and you can check every price on their own sites.

How We Picked
An AI journal is only useful if its advice changes how you trade. We weighted:
- What the AI looks at. Trade data alone tells you what went wrong. Behavior and emotion data tell you why.
- Psychology. Most retail losses come from breaking your own rules: revenge trades, FOMO entries, oversized positions. An AI that sees those patterns is worth more than another chart.
- Price of the AI itself. Several journals put their AI on a higher tier than their basic journal, so we list the cheapest plan that actually includes it.
- A real mobile app. You log emotions best right after the trade, and that usually means on your phone.
- Broker sync. Automatic imports keep the data the AI works from complete.
We left out Edgewonk: it is a strong journal with a psychology section, but it does not market any AI features. See how it compares as a regular journal.
1. Plancana: Best AI Trading Journal for Trading Psychology
Plancana is a native trading journal app for iPhone and Android, rated 4.7★ on the App Store and 4.8★ on Google Play. Its AI is aimed at the trader, not just the trades.
- Mood on every trade: you log how you felt before and after each trade. The Trading Mentor (Plancana AI) then shows how those emotions affect your results, such as revenge trades after a loss or oversized positions when you are anxious. Read more about the trading psychology side.
- Free forever: manual journaling, weekly analytics and the AI Trading Plan Generator, plus a 3-day trial of the Trading Mentor. No card needed.
- Paid from $2.99/week: Basic adds the ongoing Trading Mentor and monthly and yearly analytics. Pro (from $8.99/week) adds automatic broker sync for MT4, MT5, cTrader, Bybit and TradeLocker. See pricing and supported platforms.
Where it falls short: fewer analytics views than desktop tools like TradesViz, no CSV import, and no automatic import from US stock and options brokers. Options are logged by hand.
Best for: forex, crypto, futures and prop firm traders who journal on their phone and lose money to emotional mistakes, including MetaTrader traders.
2. TradeZella: Best All-in-One AI Journal for Desktop Traders
TradeZella’s AI, Zella AI, automates much of the journaling work: it auto-tags trades, writes post-trade notes, checks your trades against your rules, and briefs and reviews your sessions.
- Psychology: emotion tags, a FOMO label, oversize alerts, a plan-adherence score, and revenge-trade detection based on how fast you re-enter after a loss.
- Price: AI is on every plan but metered by credits: Essential $35/month (500 credits), Pro $59/month, Ultra $99/month. Annual billing lowers these to $26, $44 and $74 a month.
- Brokers: 500+ integrations across stocks, options, futures, forex and crypto.
Where it falls short: no free plan or trial on its site, AI use is capped by credits, and it is built for the desktop browser.
Best for: active desktop traders who want the AI to do the tagging and reviewing for them and need wide US broker support.
3. TradesViz: Best AI Analytics for the Money
TradesViz has the broadest set of AI tools here: an AI Coach that runs a set of rule-based checks on your trades and ranks the problems by dollar cost, plus AI Query (ask a question, get a chart), AI Chat, AI summaries and an AI daily brief.
- Psychology: the coach flags behavior from your trade timing and size, such as trades within 30 minutes of a loss, bigger size after losses, and quick re-entries. It does not read emotion tags.
- Price: AI starts on Pro at $19.99/month (16 coach checks) and Platinum at $29.99/month (21 checks). Annual billing is $14.99 and $22.49 a month.
- Free plan: stocks only, one account, no AI.
Where it falls short: the AI sees what you did, not how you felt, and the depth of the analytics takes time to learn.
Best for: data-driven traders who want the most AI analytics per dollar, on desktop or mobile.
4. TraderSync: Best AI Chat for Your Trading Stats
TraderSync’s AI, Cypher, is a chat assistant: you ask about your stats and it answers and points out patterns, such as the days or times you trade worst.
- Psychology: Cypher works from your structured trade data rather than emotion notes. A separate behavior-to-P&L tool sits on the Premium plan.
- Price: Cypher starts on Pro at $29.95/month with a limit of about 5 messages a day. Premium is $49.95 and Elite $79.95 a month.
- Free plan: none advertised; the paid plans have a 7-day trial.
Where it falls short: the cheapest AI plan has a tight daily message limit, and the AI does not see your emotions. These details come from third-party reviews because TraderSync’s site blocked our checks, so confirm them on its pricing page.
Best for: active US stock and options traders who want deep broker imports and quick answers about their numbers.
5. tradejournal.ai: Best for Checking a Setup Before You Enter
tradejournal.ai offers an AI Coach that finds patterns across your trades and notes, a critique of each trade, a weekly review, and a check that compares a setup you are about to take against your past trades.
- Psychology: it reads your mood tags and notes, and its pre-trade checklist covers revenge trading.
- Price: one plan, $19.95/month or $195/year, with a daily limit on AI Coach questions. You can lift the limit by adding your own Anthropic API key.
- Brokers: live sync for Bitunix and Hyperliquid, with Binance, Bybit, OKX and US brokerages in beta, plus CSV and MetaTrader file imports.
Where it falls short: no free plan (7-day trial), a newer and smaller product, and futures sync is not available yet.
Best for: crypto traders who want an AI second opinion before they enter a trade.
Data AI vs Psychology AI: Which Do You Need?
- You lose because of bad setups, bad timing or the wrong markets: a data-focused AI like TradesViz or TraderSync will find it.
- You lose because you break your own rules after a loss, chase moves or size up when you feel sure: you need an AI that sees your emotions. Plancana is built for this, and TradeZella covers it on desktop.
Many traders have both problems. Start with the one that costs you the most. For most retail traders, that is the emotional one.
